  • Kaiser-Hill Company Cited for Nuclear Safety Rule Violations at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site -- On February 05, the DOE issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation (POV) and proposed civil penalty of $522,500 to the Kaiser-Hill Company, LLC, the managing contractor at RFETS. The POV was issued for violations of DOE nuclear safety rules and procedures associated with several events and for the failure of Kaiser-Hill to operate within DOE approved safety limits and controls.    [DOE Press Release]

  • DOE Ranked First Among Cabinet Agencies On The President's Management Agenda -- On January 29, Secretary Abraham announced that DOE was ranked first among cabinet-level agencies in the most recent scorecard to assess implementation of the President’s Management Agenda. The scorecard, which evaluates agency performance in the areas of human capital, competitive sourcing, financial management, e-government, and budget/performance integration, was issued.   • Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC Cited for Price-Anderson Violations -- On January 23, the DOE has issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation to Bechtel BWXT Idaho (BBWI), the operating contractor at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI responsibilities include transuranic and low-level radioactive waste handling and disposal operations at the INEEL Radioactive Waste Management Complex.    [DOE Press Release]
