AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR H.R. 6 - THE ENERGY POLICY ACT OF 2003

The Rules Committee has announced that it may meet the week of April 7th to grant a rule that could limit the amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 6, the Energy Policy Act of 2003.

Any Member who wishes to offer an amendment should submit 55 copies of the amendment, one written copy of a brief explanation of the amendment, and one electronic copy of the same to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol by 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 9th. A link to the form used to submit amendments to the Rules Committee is located at the top of the page. Members should draft their amendments to the bill as introduced on April 7th. Members are advised that the text should be available for their review on the websites of the committees of jurisdiction and of the Rules Committee by Monday, April 7th.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also talk to the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House.
