HOLT STATEMENT ON BRAC HEARING
(Washington, D.C.) – Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today issued the following statement after the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness Subcommittee hearing on the implementation of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) round.
“Today, the House Armed Services Committee heard testimony from multiple witnesses that confirmed what we've said for nearly three years: the closure of Fort Monmouth would put soldiers’ lives at risk and cost far more than advertised.
The Department of Defense will soon release a report that will probably claim the closure can go forward without jeopardizing support to troops in the field. I look forward to a follow-up oversight hearing where the validity of those claims will be closely scrutinized.”
