HOLT STATEMENT ON “ORDERLY AND RESPONSIBLE
IRAQ REDEPLOYMENT APPROPRIATIONS ACT”
|

Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) issued the following statement on his vote in favor of H.R. 4156, the Orderly and Responsible Iraq Redeployment Appropriations Act, which among other provisions, requires that the withdrawal from Iraq start within 30 days of the bill becoming law; gives deployed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan the resources they need to defend themselves and carry out a responsible redeployment; and bans the use of torture by any element of our government.
“If it becomes law, this bill would set the new course in Iraq that the American people have been demanding for years. I hope my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and the President will finally listen to reason and support this legislation so that our country can finally make a course change in Iraq that is so long overdue.”
