HOLT HOSTS “D.C. DAY” FOR CENTRAL NEW JERSEY INDIAN AMERICANS

(Washington, DC) – Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today hosted 30 Indian Americans from across Central New Jersey for a day-long discussion with Congressional and executive branch leaders about such issues as the business relationship between the United States and India, education, immigration, and energy and development in India.

“As a member of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans and as someone who has traveled often to India, most recently on a bipartisan Congressional delegation with Speaker Pelosi, I was pleased to host today’s discussion,” Holt said. “Issues affecting the Indian American community and relations between the United States and India are important ones, and I value the thoughts of my constituents.”

Throughout the year, Holt hosts “D.C. Days” to bring representatives of various New Jersey groups to Washington for discussions with policy makers and opinion leaders. Today’s speakers included representatives from the State Department, U.S.-India Business Council, Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and House Committee on Education and Labor and Representatives Joe Crowley (NY-7) and Jim McDermott (WA-7).

Attending the day-long event were Indian Americans from Cranbury, Monroe, North Brunswick, Old Bridge, Plainsboro, Princeton Junction, South Brunswick, and West Windsor.
