HOLT STATEMENT ON FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
OF 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS

Washington, D.C. -- Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today issued the following statement on the fifth anniversary of al Qaeda’s terrorist attacks on the United States:

“Today, our nation marks the fifth anniversary of Al Qaeda’s attacks on America. It is a time for reflection and remembering the loved ones we lost. As we memorialize the fallen, I believe that we must also honor their memory by fully implementing the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission. Just 10 months ago, the former members of the 9/11 Commission issued a report card on how well the federal government has done since 2001. The results are disheartening. In 17 major areas of security needing improvement, the Commissioners gave the federal government five “F’s” and 12 “D’s.” This is an abysmal record that must be changed, and I urge the President and the Congressional leadership to take immediate action to implement the Commission’s remaining recommendations.”
