Washington, D.C. -- Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today issued the following statement on the resignation of CIA Director Porter Goss:
“I thank Porter for his many years of service to our nation. He has served in many roles, each of them important to the security of our country.
"It is my sincere hope that Mr. Goss’s successor will understand that the role of intelligence is to bring understanding and truth to power, not to provide justification for political agendas. The President has an obligation to appoint someone who does, and to articulate that understanding himself.”
