Emergency Management Policy
Develops policy (Department of Energy (DOE) Orders) and guidance (DOE Guides) for NNSA on:
- Hazardous Materials Programs for Fixed Facilities/Sites
- Weapon and Non-Weapon Transportation Programs
Policies:
- DOE O 151.1 contains specific requirements for implementing and maintaining emergency management programs
- DOE G 151.1 provides an acceptable approach for the development and accomplishment of the key emergency management activities: planning, preparedness, readiness assurance, and response.
Current Policy/Guidance Activities:
- Development of Temporary Emergency Exposure Levels (TEELs)
- Development/adoption of protective action criteria for biological hazards
- Development of Consequence Assessment Software Toolbox
- Modifications to hazardous materials screening methodology
- Update of approach for developing Emergency Action Levels (EALs)
- Additional guidance for including malevolent events in Emergency Planning Hazards Assessments (EPHAs)
