Brooks to Outline NNSA’s Role in Preventing Nuclear Terrorism

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) will speak this Friday at a breakfast seminar on nuclear terrorism hosted by the National Defense University Foundation.

NNSA Administrator Linton F. Brooks will discuss NNSA’s work to keep nuclear materials and technologies out of the hands of terrorists, and the challenges facing the U.S. in addressing this important concern. This event will be on-the-record and open to the press.

WHY:

Preventing nuclear terrorism is top priority for the Bush administration and one that NNSA is charged with carrying out. Through its nuclear scientific capabilities and various programs in the U.S. and around the globe, NNSA focuses on keeping nuclear material, expertise and technology out of the hands of terrorists. Brooks will address NNSA’s role and importance in the global struggle against nuclear terrorism.
