Accelerating the market penetration of wind technology is a key goal of the Department of Energy's Office of Wind and Hydropower Technologies. Key deployment activities aimed at identifying and addressing barriers to wind technology include Wind Powering America and the Federal Wind Siting Information Center.

Federal Wind Siting Information Center

The Federal Wind Siting Information Center is part of the federal government's effort to support the increased deployment of wind energy facilities on public, private, and tribal lands, airspace, and offshore. The site is a resource for information on the siting of wind turbines and the Federal Interagency Wind Siting Collaboration, an interagency collaboration formed to support the increased deployment of wind energy.

Wind Powering America

Wind Powering America is a commitment to dramatically increase the use of wind energy in the United States. This initiative will establish new sources of income for American farmers, Native Americans, and other rural landowners, and meet the growing demand for clean sources of electricity. Through Wind Powering America, the United States will achieve targeted regional economic development, enhance our power generation options, protect the local environment, and increase our energy and national security.
