Vision

Can I continue coverage into retirement?

Answer:

There is no 5 year requirement for continuing your vision insurance under the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) into retirement. If you have FEDVIP coverage when you retire, it will automatically continue into retirement, no matter how long you have had the coverage.

To be eligible for FEDVIP you must have retired with an immediate annuity (a FERS Minimum Retirement Age plus 10 annuity, postponed, counts as an immediate annuity). Those in receipt of a deferred annuity are not eligible to enroll in FEDVIP. Please review Section 1 – Eligibility (Federal Annuitants) of any FEDVIP plan brochure.
