OPM Seeks Comment on Revised Strategic Plan |
Washington, D.C. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management today released a draft revised strategic plan that provides an internal blueprint for providing human resources policy leadership and service that ultimately can help other federal agencies achieve their varied missions.
OPM Director Janice R. Lachance, President Clintons chief advisor on federal human resources issues, said her agencys strategic plan will help lay the groundwork for the success of other agencies in their delivery of services to the American public.
"Our revised strategic plan in essence, the federal governments human resources strategic plan addresses the importance of building and maintaining a high-quality and diverse work force, protecting the merit system and ensuring that agencies have the tools they need to compete in todays tough labor market," said Lachance. "After all, people are the key to accomplishing the business of government."
The actions in the OPM plan will help agencies carry out the Presidents recent mandate to agency heads to include human resources professionals as full partners in business planning and decision making. In addition, the Clinton-Gore White House also created the Human Resources Management Council to provide a forum for collaboration across agency lines to identify and address emerging human resources management issues.
The draft, revised strategic plan is being circulated for comment to stakeholders through OPMs web site at http://www.opm.gov.
