Washington, D.C -- Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) today released the attached letters to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Metro urging the three entities to work to ensure that sound walls are erected along the route of the planned extension of rail to Dulles airport.

Below is the text of the letter to Virginia Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer:

January 15, 2009

The Honorable Pierce Homer
Secretary
Virginia Department of Transportation
PO Box 1475
Richmond VA 23218

Dear Secretary Homer:

As the federal government has now given its final approval to the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, I urge you to work with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to provide sound barriers along the corridor.

I have a long history of working with communities that are affected by new transportation projects and support erecting sound walls to ensure that those who live along the route are protected.

I urge your attention to this important matter.

Best wishes.

Sincerely,

Frank R. Wolf
Member of Congress
