Statement of Director Janice R. Lachance to OPMs Customers on Plans to Ensure Proper Operations During Y2K Weekend
We at OPM are making every effort and taking every precaution to ensure the proper operations and security of the systems that you rely on. As part of this plan, we are temporarily taking our Internet-based systems out of service for several hours over the New Years holiday weekend. We will use this time to check our systems in order to guarantee delivery of the high-quality service that you expect from us. Thank you for your patience during this brief time as we endeavor to serve you.
Unless you hear otherwise, federal agencies of the United States government in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area will be OPEN on Monday, January 3, 2000. All federal employees will be expected to report for work on time. For updated open-status information, consult local media, the OPM web site or the official open-status hotline at 202-606-1900.
