OPM Official Addresses the Need to Reach Out to Minority MBAs

Washington, D.C. - During a panel discussion, OPM Deputy Associate Director for the Center for Human Resources Jeff Risinger discussed the many career opportunities in the federal government for minority MBAs. The discussion was a part of conference organized by the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and the National Black MBA Association, Washington, D.C., chapter.

"We have a tremendous need for new talent, new energy, and new creativity to do the work of government in the 21st Century," said Risinger. "And OPM Director Kay Coles James is leading the charge to recruit a diverse work force that has strong business credentials, and who are at ease with rapid change. We are looking for go-getters with fresh ideas who are eager to make a contribution. We need your skills, now."

The panel, titled Alternative Careers for Minority MBAs, focused on unique career opportunities available to minority MBAs in the federal government, not-for-profit organizations and private industry. Topics explored minority career advancement, the existence of "glass ceilings," and workplace diversity in management positions.

In addition to Risinger, representatives of organizations, colleges and universities from around the country were present to show their support for the conference.
