NRC ANNOUNCES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR
AT DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have assigned Christopher S. Thomas as the agency's senior resident inspector at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio.

Thomas, who began his duties at the Davis-Besse plant earlier this year, joined the NRC in August 1997 as the resident inspector at the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Station near Red Wing, Minnesota. Prior to joining the NRC, he worked as a nuclear test engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia.

Thomas served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear machinist mate from 1982-1986 aboard the USS Mississippi, which was based in the Norfolk, Virginia, area.

Thomas earned a master of science degree in environmental engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. He also earned a bachelor of science degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Thomas, his wife and two children now live in the Toledo, Ohio, area.
