NRC ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION
FOR ST. LUCIE UNITS 1 AND 2

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is announcing the availability of a 20-year license renewal application for the St. Lucie nuclear power plant, Units 1 and 2. Florida Power & Light Company, operator of the plant, submitted the application on November 29.

The plant is located near Ft. Pierce, Florida. The operating license for Unit 1 expires on March 1, 2016; and the license for Unit 2 on April 6, 2023.

A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the NRC Public Document Room, One White Flint North building, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland, or on the NRC web site from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The ADAMS Public Electronic reading room is accessible from the NRC web site at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html

Help in using ADAMS is available by contacting the NRC Public Document Room staff at 301/415-4737 or 1/800/397-4209, or by sending a message to pdr.resource@nrc.gov via e-mail.

A copy of the license renewal application is available for public inspection at the Indian River Community College Library in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

The NRC staff is currently conducting an initial review of the application to determine whether it contains enough information for the required formal review. If the application has sufficient information, the NRC will formally "docket," or file, the application and will announce an opportunity to request a hearing.
