NRC SCHEDULES MAY 24 MEETING IN MESQUITE, NEVADA, ON POSSIBLE YUCCA MOUNTAIN WASTE REPOSITORY

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with local citizens May 24 in Mesquite, Nevada, to provide an overview of its activities related to the possible future high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Mesquite City Hall, 10 East Mesquite Blvd., Council Chamber. NRC representatives will discuss the agency's independent oversight function and its role in regulating the transportation of high-level waste. They will also be available to answer questions.
