||
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region 1 Office has announced the assignment of a new senior resident inspector for Salem Station Units 1 & 2 in Hancock's Bridge, N.J. Raymond K. Lorson was the senior resident inspector at the Seabrook nuclear power plant in New Hampshire before coming to Salem. Lorson was the resident inspector at the Salem nuclear plant from February to October 1997 and also was a resident inspector at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. Prior to that he worked as a reactor engineer for the Division of Reactor Projects at the Region 1 Office in King of Prussia, Pa. He joined the NRC in 1991. From 1984 to 1991, Lorson served as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public. Lorson joins Resident Inspector Jeff Laughlin at Salem. They can be reached at 856/935-5151. |
