NRC TO DISCUSS CHANGES IN EMERGENCY PLANS FOR THREE PA. PLANT SITES |
||
Consolidation of the emergency plans for three nuclear power plant sites in Pennsylvania will be discussed by Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and representatives of the company that operates the plants, Exelon Nuclear Corporation, on Wednesday, May 16. The sites involved are Limerick, Peach Bottom and Three Mile Island. The meeting, which will be open to the public, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the Public Meeting Room at the NRC Region I office, 475 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, Pa. One of the topics for discussion will be a change in the location of the Emergency Operations Facility (EOF) for Three Mile Island. The facility, which would be the focal point for response to an emergency at the plant, is currently located in Harrisburg, Pa. However, Exelon is considering shifting those activities to its EOF in Coatesville, Pa., which already serves the Limerick and Peach Bottom sites. The relocation of the Three Mile Island Technical Support Center will also be discussed. |
