NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER PLANT


Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have announced the assignment of John Adams as an agency Resident Inspector at the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station near Cordova, Illinois.

Adams, who began his duties at the Quad Cities plant in August 2000, joined the NRC in March of 1996. He last worked as a NRC Resident Inspector at Braidwood Nuclear Power Station in Braidwood, Illinois. Prior to that, he worked as a reactor engineer in the agency's regional office in Lisle, Illinois.

Other positions Adams held prior to joining the NRC include: reactor manager for Iowa State University's research reactor program; assistant to the vice-president of generation for Corn Belt Power in Humboldt, Iowa; shift supervisor at Hope Creek Nuclear Power Plant near Wilmington, Delaware; reactor operator at the Duane Arnold Nuclear Power Plant in Palo, Iowa; and as an operator at the Fast Flux Test Facility in Hanford, Washington. Adams also served in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program, specifically on fast attack submarines.

Adams earned a bachelor's degree in energy and power technology from the University of Northern Iowa. He and his wife, Debra, live in Bettendorf, Iowa.
