on Nuclear Materials and Waste Activities

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with invited stakeholders Tuesday, November 9, to discuss their interactions with the agency on nuclear materials and waste issues.

The meeting, which will be open to public observation, will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the auditorium of the agency's headquarters Two White Flint North building, at 11545 Rockville Pike, in Rockville, Maryland. NRC's headquarters complex is across from the White Flint Station on the Washington Metro Red Line at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Marinelli Road.

Discussions will be held with representatives involved with broad uses of nuclear material, control of nuclear material, high-level radioactive waste, decommissioning of nuclear facilities, dry cask storage of spent nuclear fuel, and uranium and thorium mills and mill tailings.

The Commission is not seeking stakeholder input on technical or policy issues, but on the effectiveness of their interactions with the NRC on these issues and suggestions to improve stakeholder participation in the agency's decision-making process.

Participants will include representatives from the nuclear industry and other industrial groups, public interest groups, the academic community, States, and Indian organizations.

A complete list of participants and the agenda is available from the NRC's Public Document Room (1-800-841-0286) or from the Office of Public Affairs.
