NRC STAFF TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETINGS WITH FPC OFFICIALS
Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials will meet with Florida Power Corporation management on Thursday, September 25 to discuss the status of the company's efforts to prepare the Crystal River nuclear power plant for restart in December of this year.
A meeting will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. (edt) to discuss company actions to resolve issues related to control room habitability, configuration documentation (making sure plant systems exist as called for in documentation and that document information does not conflict), fire protection, and emergency diesel generator and feedwater pump modifications.
The main meeting to discuss the status of the company's overall plan to ready the reactor for restart will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Both meetings will be held in the plant's training center, located on West Venable Street, located south of the town near the airport.
The meetings are between the NRC and FPC, but members of the public may attend to observe. NRC officials will be available at the conclusion of the second meeting to answer questions from interested attendees.
