NRC ADVISORY
PANEL TO MEET DECEMBER 9 IN LAS VEGAS |
|||||||||
A Nuclear Regulatory Commission
advisory review panel will meet Tuesday, December 9, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to
discuss several issues involving the Internet-based “Licensing Support
Network,” which will contain information related to a potential hearing
on a high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. Members
of the public are invited to observe the meeting and will be invited to offer
their comments at appropriate times.
The meeting of the Licensing Support Network Advisory Review Panel will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Alexis Park, located at 375 East Harmon, Las Vegas. The Licensing Support Network (LSN) is being developed so that all potential participants in the license application hearing process for a high-level waste repository at Yucca Mountain can make their discovery documents available electronically through the participants’ individual web sites to the network. Further information is available on the LSN website at http://www.lsnnet.gov/. Topics for discussion at the December 9 meeting will include proposed changes to NRC regulations on the LSN (announced in an NRC press release dated November 20), the status of NRC’s efforts in placing its documents on the system, the progress of potential parties in identifying their documents and making them available on the system and any related problems and solutions, the participation of the advisory review panel in testing the document submission process, and other items as discussed in a Federal Register notice issued today. Further information is available from Andrew Bates, Advisory Committee Management Officer, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of the Secretary, Washington, D.C. 20555-0001; telephone 301/415-1963 or e-mail Andrew.Bates@nrc.gov or from Jack G. Whetstine, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel, Washington, D.C. 20555; telephone 301-415-7391 or e-mail Jack.Whetstine@nrc.gov. Interested persons may file written statements to the above addresses. Those wishing to make oral presentations at the meeting should contact Mr. Bates or Mr. Whetstine in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made. |
