NRC TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING MAY 1 ON REACTOR VESSEL
PENETRATION LEAKAGE AT SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT

Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company on May 1 in Rockville, Md., to discuss leakage from the bottom of the reactor vessel in STP Unit 1.

The meeting, portions of which are open to the public, will be held in Room T-2B1 at 11545 Rockville Pike, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Meeting topics will include possible causes of the leakage, methods of non-destructive examination of the vessel, and possible repair options. Discussion of proprietary information may close portions of the meeting to the public, but NRC staff will be available for public comment before the meeting adjourns.
