U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in the Region II office in Atlanta have announced the assignment of Robert C. (Bob) Hagar as the new Senior Resident Inspector at the Robinson nuclear plant near Hartsville, South Carolina.

Hagar had been a Resident Inspector at the Harris nuclear plant, located southwest of Raleigh, North Carolina, since March 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters degree in nuclear engineering from Purdue University. He also attended the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School. Hagar has a total of 27 years experience in the nuclear field, having held positions with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Comanche Peak nuclear plant prior to joining the NRC in 1997. He and his wife live in Hartsville.

Each of the country’s commercial nuclear power plants has assigned NRC resident inspectors who serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Hagar joins NRC Resident Inspector David Jones and Site Secretary Susan Andrews at the Robinson plant. The NRC inspectors at Robinson can be reached at 843-383-4571.
