Printable Version PDF Icon

Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with representatives of Nebraska Public Power District on November 4, to present the NRC’s findings resulting from the third quarterly inspection of Cooper Nuclear Station associated with the Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL) issued on January 30, 2003. The NRC staff also will discuss results of their inspection of the licensee’s corrective action program.

The meeting, which will be open to the public for observation, is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Brownville Concert Hall, Atlantic Avenue and Second Street, Brownville, Neb. Before the session is adjourned, NRC staff will be available to answer questions from the public on results of the third quarterly inspection of Cooper, the safety performance of the plant, and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operation.

Since April 2002, Cooper has had been subject to increased NRC oversight because of plant performance problems. The CAL describes steps Nebraska Public Power District officials plan to take to improve plant performance, which are subject to quarterly NRC inspections.

The CAL can be found in the agency's electronic document system (ADAMS), which can be accessed through the NRC's web site at www.nrc.gov Help in using ADAMS is available by contacting the NRC Public Document Room at (301) 415-4737 or 1-800-397-4209.
