NRC ANNOUNCES NEW PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICERS
AT MARYLAND AND TEXAS OFFICES

Scott Burnell and David McIntyre, both former reporters, have joined the staff in the Office of Public Affairs at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s headquarters located in Rockville, Maryland. Victor Dricks, formerly at NRC headquarters, has assumed responsibility for public affairs in the agency’s regional office located in Arlington, Texas.

Mr. Burnell comes to the NRC with 13 years experience as a technical writer and editor with several news organizations and publications, including United Press International, McGraw-Hill, Computerworld, the Portsmouth Herald and The Telegraph, both in New Hampshire. He also served as a public affairs specialist in the U.S. Army, including duty in Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the Persian Gulf War. Mr. Burnell earned his bachelor of arts degree in English/Journalism, summa cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire in 1995.

Mr. McIntyre has served for the past 10 years as a Washington-based diplomatic correspondent for the German Press Agency and a part-time writer and editor for the Voice of America. While a reporter, he has covered U.S. foreign policy, government regulation, trade, finance, and technical developments in the United States. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in international relations from the College of William and Mary and did graduate work at the University of Michigan focusing on international relations, China, and the Soviet Union.

Mr. Dricks, a veteran reporter with 18 years experience in the areas of science, medicine, the environment, and nuclear energy, has served as a public affairs officer with the NRC in King of Prussia, Pa., and Rockville, Md., for the past eight years. In his new job in Arlington, Texas, Mr. Dricks is responsible for the public affairs activities involved with all NRC-licensed nuclear facilities and materials in the western part of the country.
