NRC TO HOLD WORKSHOP IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
ON SPENT FUEL STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATI0N
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled a
workshop May 17 in Rockville, Maryland, to discuss the
agency's regulatory program for storage and transportation of
spent fuel from nuclear power plants.
The workshop will be held in the NRC auditorium at 11545
Rockville Pike from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is open to the
public.
During the morning session, the NRC staff will discuss
the licensing process and NRC experience with dry cask
storage, including licensing and inspection observations and
lessons learned. The afternoon will be devoted to industry
experience with the dry cask technology, followed by a
discussion of NRC staff initiatives in this area and an
opportunity for feedback from all workshop participants.
