Thanks GLOBE for creating an opportunity for educators to share with each other the creative ways they approach celebrating Earth Day. We read The Great Kapok Tree by Lynn Cherry. This story of environmental conservation, preservation and appreciation sparked a deep discussion about how students can affect and promote environmental change. We look forward to sharing this book and others with The Surya Boarding School, our sister school and fellow GLOBE school in Nepal during an upcoming visit.

The students and staff, at the Burlington County Institute of Technology in Medford New Jersey USA, wish all our GLOBE friends around the world a great Earth Day 2005! Today our activities include a visit to a local Nature/Environmental Center where we will be demonstrating GLOBE protocols to visitors, and collecting data as well! We would like to send a special invitation to everyone to join our School to School activity, "Digital Earth-GIS."

I think GLOBE has started a good environmental education program which is very well guiding and training the young brains towards being conscious individuals while the natural resources are exhausted day by day. I wish a happy Earth Day to all the Nature Lovers.

Thank you Mrs. Sanders for starting the messages! Congratulations to your students for participating in so many great activities. I am especially impressed and interested in the waste free lunch. Our school will celebrate Earth Day by having our faithful Fifth graders collect their regular GLOBE Data including the surface temperature if it is sunny.

Students in Mrs. Sanders 4th grade class would like to wish everyone a Happy Earth Day. We are planting flowers in our flower bed, cleaning up the playground, and participating in a Waste-Free lunch program to help us be more aware of recycling.
