The appropriation for fiscal year 2001 was $9 million. Eighty-five percent of that amount was provided to the designated state entities to carry out the activities authorized in Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act, section 118. Fifteen percent remains with the national ACRN office to support the national activities. Grants became effective July 1, 2000, and were made effective for a two-year period. The average annual state grant for the first year was $131,855.
