Grant Funds Colonias Home Mortgages and Construction
February 26, 2003
The PPEP Microbusiness and Housing Development Corporation (PPEP)
in Tucson, AZ received a $500,000 Rural Housing and Economic Development
(RHED) grant in 2000 under the Innovative Housing and Economic Development
category.

Giving Hope to At Risk Youth
January 6, 2005
On December 15th, 2004, HUD Regional Director Macie Houston
presented United Way a check for $700,000 for the Kansas City Youthbuild
Program. The grant was one of over 100 2004 Youthbuild grants announced
last week by HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson.

Frontier Housing was founded in 1974, when a few committed volunteers
supported by area churches got together to try to provide solutions
for the tremendous numbers of families in Northeast Kentucky who
were living in unaffordable units that were unsafe and overcrowded.

August 15, 2002
Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary Roy A. Bernardi
awarded $150,000 in federal funding for the revitalization of downtown
Laurinburg and announced $103,706 for 25 rental-assistance vouchers
for Laurinburg to help low-income families rent apartments or buy

First Youthbuild Class

It would have been a special day for any teenager in America, but
for 28 teens and young men and women in San Diego, it was a special
day many of them never expected to see. On Friday, January 18, 2002,
ten students received their high school diplomas, another five received
their GED, five more were moving on to pursue a degree from a college
or technical school, and all had learned job-ready construction
skills.
