On September 24, 2002, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (Edward Kennedy [D-MA], Chairman) and the Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management, Restructuring, and the District of Columbia (Richard J. Durbin [D-IL], Chairman) held a joint hearing on the increasing prevalence of human cases of West Nile Virus and the challenges to public health. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of NIAID, testified.
