Summary: Representative Bilirakis Holds Hearing on NIH Research Efforts

On June 6, 2002, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health (Michael Bilirakis [R-FL], Chairman) held a hearing entitled, “The National Institutes of Health: Investing in Research to Prevent and Cure Disease.” This was the first in a series of planned hearings to examine NIH research efforts. Claude Lenfant, Director of NHLBI, and Audrey Penn, Acting Director of NINDS, testified.
