Summary: Senator Specter Holds Hearing on Heart Disease Research

On May 16, 2002, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, Education (Tom Harkin [D-IA], Chairman) held a hearing entitled, “The Impact of Stress Management on Reversing Heart Disease.” The hearing was chaired by Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), Ranking Minority Member. Peter G. Kaufmann, Behavioral Medicine Scientific Research Group Leader, Clinical Applications and Prevention Program, Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Applications, NHLBI, testified.
