"Success" and "Congregate Housing Services Program" are synonymous!

Since 1994, CHSP has helped over 1,500 elderly tenants meet their goal of living at Riverview Towers for as long as possible. As our tenants age in place, CHSP continues to be a necessity.

CHSP services include the following:

  • Housekeeping and Laundry: Our housekeepers serve 115 tenants each month. Ann, 88, relishes the idea of having a housekeeper because she's had hip replacements and just cannot do her own housework.

  • Wellness: A registered nurse from the local medical center provides a blood pressure clinic attended by 25-30 tenants. Harry, 89, goes to the "Ask a Nurse" program to make sure his pressure is stable, since he takes many different medications.

  • Exercise Classes: Chair exercise classes meet 2 times a week that include the use of stretch bands and weights. Yoga and tai chi classes also meet weekly. Ruth, 91, enjoys attending the classes, because they make her "feel like dancing".

  • Transportation: CHSP supports transportation to restaurants, plays, concerts and shopping trips. Arnold, 94, usually doesn't get out much, but tenant trips provide a safe and supportive environment.

  • Service Coordination: The Service Coordinator refers tenants to many community services. Lee, 89, got physical therapy and a walker to prevent her from falling. 90-year-old Julia's family lives out of town, so she has case management from family services agency. Leonard, 85, would have to move to a nursing home if he wasn't enrolled in a nursing home diversion program offered by the area agency on aging.

These services assist our tenants to remain safe, healthy and residing at Riverview Towers and their community. CHSP is truly a "success story".
