The
Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) has been a proud
participant in the Congregate Housing Services Program since it
was started as a three-year pilot program 30 years ago. It initially
was operated at the Redding, but was moved to Maple Tower in 1996
when the Redding closed for renovations. Shortly after that time
CMHA began to leverage the CHSP funds in order to provide additional
services to its residents.
A
contract was signed with the Southwest Ohio Council on Aging to
administer the CHSP eight years ago. By utilizing the relationship
with COA, CMHA was able to provide its residents with more programs
than just the CHSP funds would allow. The Cincinnati Area Senior
Services (CASS) is a sponsoring agency for the meal program at Maple
Tower, using Title 3 funds as a match. The innovative step CMHA
has taken to leverage the CHSP funds has benefitted the residents
of Maple Tower and has helped the agency to keep occupancy levels
high in that community.
Services
offered to the 40 participants through CHSP funds and CMHA's partners
include:
-
Meals program - lunch everyday and a self-supporting breakfast
program during the week
- Housekeeping
-
Medical Transportation
-
Personal Care
-
Lifeline Emergency Response Systems
