The program serves 24 frail elderly or disabled residents with on-site supportive services such as a homemaker once per week for two hours, a hot meal on Saturdays and Sundays, and a personal emergency response system. We contract with three different local providers to assist with the services for the residents and to strengthen community bonds. The services are paid for through grant funds, participant fees and matching resources.

The CHSP program has been instrumental in allowing our frail elderly to age in place while waiting for more permanent and far-reaching services such as the Elderly and Disabled Adult Waiver program, which presently has a three year waiting list in the state of Louisiana. Without the CHSP program, no other alternatives to supportive services would have been available in our community to meet their needs.

We are very fortunate to be able to offer these services to our residents.
