Audience Definitions
Audience Definition
Auditors/Investigators People who examine the accounting and business practices of an organization for compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
Community Groups People linked by interests and location that share common goals.
Contractors A person or business that provides goods and services for a fee.
Government An organization (including it's representatives), established by law, statute or ordinance, that performs a public service or mission.
Grantees An individual or organization that receives funding, property, or resources from a public or private source to further the goals and objectives of the source.
Historically Black Colleges (excerpted from Higher Education Act of 1965) An institution founded before 1964 primarily for the education of Black Americans.
Homebuyers People actively pursuing the purchase of a residence.
Homeless (excerpted from the McKinney Act) People who lack a fixed, regular, adequate, and permanent residence.
Homeowners People who own a home.
Housing Counselors Individuals that provide education in the areas of homeownership, renting, and personal finance.
Housing Industry Any person or organization involved in the development, construction or manufacture, finance, management, or sale of housing and its component parts.
Job Seekers People looking for employment
Kids People 12 years of age and under.
Landlords People who own or manage real estate for rent.
Native Americans People descended from those who inhabited the North American continent before European settlement.
News Media Those who collect and disseminate information on current affairs.
People with Disabilities Persons having a physical, mental, sensory, or learning impairment.
Public A general audience.
Public Interest Groups A collection of individuals who share a common ideology and actively advocate their interests.
Researchers Individuals who conduct systematic investigations, collection, analyses of data, to reach conclusions, estimate effects, or test hypotheses
Seniors Persons 55 years of age or older.
Small Business Persons or corporations under the standard criteria engaged in commercial activities.
Students (from Department of Education) An individual for whom instruction is provided in an educational program under the jurisdiction of a school, school system, or other education institution. No distinction is made between the terms "student" and "pupil," though "student" may refer to one receiving instruction at any level while "pupil" refers only to one attending school at the elementary or secondary level. A student may receive instruction in a school facility or in another location, such as home or in a hospital. Instruction may be provided by direct student-teacher interaction or by some other approved medium such as television, radio, telephone, and correspondence.
Tenants Individuals who occupy rental housing.
