Watering Restriction Exemption Form |
Applying for a Watering Restriction ExemptionThe application form below is for an exemption from Section 4-1-4, WATERING RESTRICTIONS, of the Water Waste Ordinance. (A) All spray irrigation during the period beginning on April 1 and ending on October 31 of each year must occur between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. This restriction shall not apply to drip irrigation and low precipitation bubblers, hand watering, or watering of containerized plants and plant stock. This exemption allows for spray irrigation necessary for one day only where treatment with an application of chemical requires immediate watering to preserve the existing landscape or to establish a new landscape. This exemption allows for spray irrigation necessary for one day only where the irrigation system has been disabled for longer than forty-eight hours and immediate watering is required to preserve the existing landscape. This exemption allows for spray irrigation necessary for 30 days to establish new sod.
This variance allows for spray irrigation necessary for 45 days to establish inter-seeded (also known as reseeded) within an existing turf area. Please be sure your exemption application is filled out completely. Your completed application must be received at least forty-eight hours prior to the planned procedure. The exemption application will be considered pending on the date it is received by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Department. Once your exemption application is approved, enforcement activities will be suspended only for the time period approved and only for the Watering Restriction for the described area. An exemption application does not affect enforcement of water waste or of violations that occurred prior to your application. Failure to abide by the conditions of an exemption may result in revocation and enforcement actions. You will be notified whether your exemption application has been approved or denied. If you require assistance to complete your application, please contact Carol Edwards 768-3604 or the Water Waste Hotline at 768-3640. |
