REASON FOR
ALERT : In January 1996, NYK-DO found a sample of halva
(candy) with pistachios, imported from Turkey, to
contain aflatoxin at an actionable level of 23.8
ppb. An additional sample was requested and
analyzed. The original and check analyses
detected aflatoxin at levels of 41 ppb and 37ppb,
respectively.
GUIDANCE : Districts may detain without physical examination
the identified product from the identified
manufacturer.
