TOP OSHA OFFICIAL TO JOIN NEW YORK LABOR LEADERS IN HEARING ON WORKER ERGONOMICS MEASURE

Charles Jeffress, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, will participate in a hearing sponsored by the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health and the New York City Central Labor Council into the need for an ergonomics standard to reduce the incidence of worker injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive stress injuries.

Injured workers, labor leaders, doctors, and employers are expected to testify on how workplace conditions that fail to fit tools, furniture, and other workplace equipment to the people who use them can lead to crippling, often permanent, injury.
