Hero of Hudson River Crash Landing Got Start in AF

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16, 2009 - The pilot who crash-landed a crippled airliner in New York’s Hudson River this afternoon, saving 155 lives on board, is an Air Force Academy graduate who received his pilot training in the Air Force.

LA Air NG Intercepts Plane Flown by Schrenker

BELLE CHASSE, Jan. 16, 2009 - Two Louisiana Air National Guard pilots intercepted the airplane used by Marcus Schrenker in what is now being called an attempt to fake his death. Maj. Matt Rippen and Capt. Josh Fogle, both with the 159th Fighter Wing, were manning their alert mission in Belle Chasse, La., when they got the call.

National Guard and Reserve members and their families are eligible and encouraged to nominate employers who have gone above and beyond in their support of military employees.
