About the Research Center

The Research Center is committed to collecting and preserving significant materials and resources from Montana's past and fostering the study of these resources. An appreciation of these materials is critical to a more complete understanding of the people, events and achievements that have shaped the history and culture of Montana.

The Research Center's two reading rooms provide researchers access to the Archives, Library and Photograph collections. Knowledgeable reference staff are on duty to assist researchers during the Center's open hours .

If you are not able to visit the Research Center to conduct your own research, our staff may be able to assist you for a small fee. For detailed information on how to request research assistance, please visit the Research Requests link.

The Research Center also provides a variety of public services including Outreach programs and workshops, a website dedicated to Lewis and Clark, and the annual Bradley Fellowship .
