United Arab Emirates Join GLOBE!
On June 6, 1999, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined the GLOBE Program. The agreement was signed by H.E. Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Midfaa, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Federal Environmental Agency, and United States Ambassador Theodore H. Kattouf in Abu Dhabi. The ceremony was held at the offices of the UAE's Federal Environmental Agency and was covered extensively by the local English and Arabic press. GLOBE Country Coordinator Mr. Ibrahim N. Hadian expressed his eagerness to begin planning the implementation of GLOBE in local schools. GLOBE welcomes the students and teachers of the United Arab Emirates, the 84th GLOBE Country.
