Who We Are/What We Do:
Established in 1992, The University of Arizona Native Peoples Technical Assistance Office, in partnership with Native communities throughout Arizona, provides a comprehensive program of university-based technical assistance, technology transfer and research, and educational opportunities for Native peoples across Arizona and beyond.
NPTAO:
- serves as a conduit between Arizona's native constituents through resource identification utilizing the University of Arizona's vast and diverse cadre of university professional, academic, and research personnel.
- administers economic and community development projects in indigenous communities throughout Arizona and the Hawaiian Islands.
- facilitates educational and research opportunities for Native peoples in a top ten ranked Research One public university setting.
- administers a 10 year applied research program providing research capacity building for tribal college faculty, staff, and students.
- serves as first point of contact for American Indian affairs to the Office of the Vice President for Research, Graduate Studies and Economic Development. In this capacity, NPTAO serves as the official signatory agent for sponsored projects involving American Indian Affairs.
