Locally heavy rainfall in May of 2007 caused the Ellis County Levee Improvement District (LID) No. 3 levee to be overtopped and breached at one location. Repair work is required on the above-mentioned levee to prevent flood waters from freely flowing through the existing breach and slough, and damaging the adjacent agricultural lands.
