Thailand Joins the GLOBE Program!
On September 30, 1999, Thailand became the 85th GLOBE Country. Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwankiri signed the GLOBE agreement with U.S. Ambassador Richard E. Hecklinger at a special ceremony held in Bangkok."Our embassy has received numerous inquiries from schools throughout Thailand interested in participating in the GLOBE Program," Ambassador Hecklinger said. "The agreement we have just signed is the first step in getting those schools access to one of the most exciting stops along the Information Superhighway."
In Thailand, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology will coordinate GLOBE activities. Up to 50 Thai schools will begin participating in the program in the first year.
