Panama Joins the GLOBE Program!

On March 2nd, 2000, Panama became the 88th GLOBE Partner Country. Panamian Minister of Education Doris Rosas de Mata and U.S. Ambassador Simon Ferro signed the GLOBE agreement in Panama City. The agreement was the first bilateral U.S.- Panama agreement to be signed since the transfer of authority for the Panama Canal in December 1999.

"Panamanian students will be able to use scientific data to learn about the environment surrounding the Canal, which all of us know is of vital importance here in Panama," Ambassador Ferro remarked at the signing ceremony.

The Ministry of Education will take the lead for recruiting, training, and mentoring GLOBE Teachers. GLOBE welcomes the students of Panama!
