GLOBE-UNESCO To Work Together on Environmental Education
The GLOBE Program and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have concluded a joint project agreement.
GLOBE/UNESCO cooperation will enhance worldwide environmental education by
involving established UNESCO educational networks, such as the UNESCO
Associated Schools Program, in the implementation of the GLOBE Program. It
will also reinforce international scientific collaboration by inviting
established UNESCO scientific networks to become involved in implementing
GLOBE. UNESCO and GLOBE will work together as appropriate towards
diffusion to schools of key messages concerning sustainable development,
enhancement of teacher training with regard to education for sustainable
development, and involvement of other United Nations bodies in the
implementation of the GLOBE Program worldwide.
